From aggression and restriction to trust, freedom and enjoying life again.
When Scramble arrived for Residential Training, everyday life had become incredibly difficult for both him and his owners. Having visitors at home wasn’t possible, he needed to be muzzled around people following several bite incidents, and he was reactive when out and about. Even seemingly friendly interactions could be difficult – if someone offered him a treat, Scramble could respond very aggressively.
During his four-week stay, the focus wasn’t simply on stopping the behaviours people could see. Time was spent building trust, developing a genuine relationship with Scramble and helping him learn a different way of responding to people and situations he had previously struggled with.
As his trust grew, Scramble’s world began to open up. He became more comfortable around people, started actively seeking interaction and play, and despite his strong prey drive, developed the reliability needed to enjoy off-lead freedom – giving him opportunities to explore that hadn’t previously been possible.
Four weeks later, Scramble was happily greeting and interacting with people, enjoying affection and play, visiting cafés and experiencing everyday life with far greater confidence and freedom.
Most importantly, Scramble was more relaxed and able to enjoy life again. For his owners, that meant being able to enjoy outings and experiences together that had previously felt out of reach.
